As well as the big fire near Aberfeldy/Thomson Dam, there are now fires north of Walhalla and on Deep Creek 1 that are not under control. There is another one south of Erica as well.

Probably not a good idea to head up that way for at least a couple of weeks.

We were up that way last Sunday (One Speck track, Fultons Creek Tk etc) and stopped for lunch on the last river crossing on Fultons Creel Tk before hitting Walhalla Rd.  Left the river, did the little climb out where the area opend out, low and behold someone had left their camp fire going (a largish one).  No flames, but very hot charred logs still glowing and billowing lots of smoke.  Fires around Aberfeldy and on Williamsons Spur track, two days after a 42 degree day and these morons leave a fire going.

I’m working up here at the moment and it is 100% not safe for anyone. The roads are closed all over the place. We’re getting some rain right now and hopefully no lightning. You’d be crazy to come into the area.

The one south of Erica was basically nothing. Caused by lightning.
