Meet at the Merrijig Pub Car Park at 8.30 for a 9am departure. The pub is on the Mt. Buller Rd on the right as you head towards Mt Buller, you can't miss it. We will be doing a big loop & finish back at the pub by 6pm. Let me know if you would like to stay & have dinner at the pub so I can book numbers as its a great place for a beer, meal & a yarn after a big day out on the tracks.
There is 18 huts on this trip. We won't have time to visit them all in a day as people take there time to enjoy the scenery at each hut.
the huts that are locked in to stop at are Refuge Mt 3 Hut, Razorback Hut, Frys Hut, Bluff Spur Hut, Bindaree Hut, Lovicks Hut (if the track is open) and the most famous of all, Craig's Hut.
It depends on how we're traveling but I intend to stop at Craig's Hut for an hour or so. Good place for lunch.
We'll also stop at the beautiful Bindaree Falls.
For those of you that hate early starts (me), I will be heading up Friday after work and camp at Sheepyard Flat. For those of you not familiar with Sheepyard, it's a huge grassed camp area on the Howqua River. It is very easy to get to. Turn LEFT as soon as you cross the bridge to set up camp.
I wont be leaving home until about 6pm & I hope to arraive at Sheepyards by 9.30pm. Keep your UHF on on channel 10 so we can all keep an ear for all arrivals.
My car is a white GU Patrol with yellow 4wd trip stickers on the back windows.
There is going to be a huge group having a Christmas get together camping on the right side of the bridge so make sure you go left.
Sunday after bacon & eggs, we'll pack up & take a look at Slate Mine (awsome views), then go through the mountains to Jamison. At Jamo we can have a feed at the pub for lunch (if you like) then head home from there.
I'll see ya when I'm looking at ya!
