Big River to Woods Point drive EASY / MEDIUM

Big River, VIC

A nice day trip starting at Warburton, through Reefton Spur, Big River and over to Woods Point for lunch.  Must have low range and A/T tyres are suggested. Tracks include Frenchmans Creek, Monument, Cornhill, Freanchmans Gap, Old Coach, Ross Creek, Abbot Link, Johnson Hill plus maybe a few more time dependant. Pack a picnic lunch and a sense of humour for a great days drive.

    Hi Aaron, it's pretty slow going - we'll be in low range most of the day so I'm trying to keep it at 8. But if there's enough interested people I'm more than happy to go again and list another trip another day, maybe a weekender. Been poking around these tracks since the 80's and know Woods Point / Big River pretty well; never tire of the good tracks.

    No worries, will do. Looks like there's lots of interest in trips like this so I'll definitely do another one, but we'll make it a weekender for sure to allow some elbow bending time round the fire

    Getting closer !
    I've got my eye on the weather forecast and even if it dumps rain overnight on Friday, there's only one or two sections we'll miss out on.
    It's mostly rock base so will still be on.
    A days drive in the bush beats a day at home anyway !

    sooooo....a little bit of rain in the last 24 hours. I'm still very keen for a sloppy, muddy, slippery day. I'll pack a spare pair of boots and a towel. If I had muddies I'd put them on. See you all soon!

    Ok. It wasn't sloppy and yes....was a great day. We had a variety of cars, people and experience and I think everyone was very happy with the day. Alex definitely knows the area and without his know how you could waste days on the wrong tracks and easily become "stuck" up the wrong track. This was my first 4wdtrip of hopefully many more to come. Hats off to Alex and the rest of the bunch for a great day in the bush.
