Might pay to mention trip will go if access is ok, yes even a month out.

We just had to cancel Madigan east - west due to Eyre Ck (and other access ex ADELAIDE) flooding.

It was closed to all crossings inc SA lines just a couple of weeks ago, with a lot more water coming down still for a while.

Saw a pic with Don Rowlands standing on east side of Eyre Ck, and 5 vehicles on west side.
It appears even the bypass was closed as they had to turn back and return to Mt Dare !!

The bypass is where we had to go for Madigan, all up the track and around camp 20 was inundated.

Hope it stops flowing for you, but this water is unprecedented for many decades and expected to keep coming for some time.

Hi Les

You're correct, last i heard from Birdsville is that the east side is still closed. but they said it should be open early July as water is no receding. But cant really guarantee anything like most this out there.
Fingers crossed it'll be good to cross in 6-7 weeks

Good oh, I stopped following the water flows a good week ago since we decided to cancel.
Hopefully you are good to go later July then.

One good thing to come out if cancelling our trip . . . we decided to do a run up to William Ck in July and do a Wright Air charter over Lake Eyre and Anna Hills (their painted hills), as Lake Eyre is going to be pretty full, most water in there for almost 50 years.

All the best for your trip plans then, have a great drive across.

Any chance of being included with just one spare?

I really do not want to carry an extra carcass in the camper.
Arrrggh!

Hi Brad,

Look, i think it'll be fine. grab a repair kit or two in case.

Last year i did a 25,000km loop around australia and we went through some really shitty corrugation, Gibb, arnhemland, Mitchell platue, etc and never had a tire blown.
The only time i stuffed up was driving through a mining road with too high PSI.

So I think you'll be ok. What size tyres are you running?

I reckon you'll be fine. We will probably hire a Sat so if you lose 2 tyres.. unlikely. we wont be stranded :D

You have to be doubly unlucky to not get out of jail with those tyre plugs too.
